On February 15, 2012, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has accepted ASTM F963-11 as the Mandatory Toy Safety Standard, that will apply to toys manufactured on or after June 12, 2012.
The Challenge
The revised F963-11 standard establishes and revises many requirements for toy safety. Are you prepared to incorporate them in design & manufacturing, and to ensure and certify that your toys comply with the revised to standard?
Most significant among these changes are the new limits on the eight heavy metals in the content (substrate) of the toys (in addition to their current limitation in the paints and other toy surface coatings).
The revised standard also addresses the issues related to jaw entrapment; squeeze toys; ride-on toys; toy seats; and stuffing materials.
