In the first quarter of 2012, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China (AQSIQ) launched a national supervision and inspection on casual wear. There were totally 300 batches of products produced by 300 manufacturers from 12 provinces and cities were inspected, and 266 batches conformed to the standard with a pass rate of 88.7%.

This spot check was conducted according to the national mandatory standard GB 18401-2003 and the quality standards marked on the products, and ten key items were inspected including formaldehyde, banned Azo dyestuffs, fiber content, pH value and color fastness.

The spot check found that the main failures were fiber content, color fastness, pH value, banned Azo dyes (2 batches) and formaldehyde(1 batch).
