The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision recently launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for 109 batches of bedding, the majority of which were produced by Shanghai’s main manufacturers. Out of these inspected products, 84 batches were produced by Shanghai companies. The inspection found a total of 22 batches of unqualified products, 18 of which were produced by Shanghai manufacturers.
This spot check was conducted according to the national mandatory standards GB 18401-2003 "National General Safety Technical Code for Textile Products", GB 18401-2010"National General Safety Technical Code for Textile Products", GB 5296.4-1998 "Instructions for Use of Products of Consumer Interest – Instructions for Use of Textiles and Apparel", GB 18383-2007" General Technical Requirements for Products with Filling Materials", GB/T 22796-2009 "Quilts, Quilt Cover", GB/T 22797-2009 "Sheet", GB/T 22843-2009 "Cushion and Pillow", GB/T 22844-2009 "Matched Bedding", GB/T 24252-2009" Silk Quilts", FZ/T 61004-2006 "Raschel Blanket". The key items inspected on these products were fiber content, formaldehyde content, pH value, azo dye, color fastness to water, color fastness to perspiration, color fastness to dry rubbing, care instructions, odor, raw material requirements, color fastness to washing, color fastness to light, oxygen number, odour and down content.
The main reasons for failure were fiber content (8 batches), color fastness (7 batches), pH value (10 batches).
