The Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision announced the results of its quality supervision and inspection for homewear, pajamas and underwear in first half of 2012. This spot check inspected 49 batches of sample produced by 25 enterprises, while 12 batches of sample produced by 12 enterprises were found to be unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to ”GB 5296.4-1998 Instructions for use of products of consumer interest Instructions for use of textiles and apparel”, "GB 18401National general safety technical code for textile products", The key items inspected on these products are banned AZO dyestuff, formaldehyde content, pH value, fiber content, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to wash and label.

The primary reasons for failure were pH value, fiber content, label.
