On November 2013, Intertek China’s Environmental Testing Laboratory comes into service. The lab located in Shanghai Comalong Technology Service Park and is run by Intertek China Green Initiatives department.

Intertek China’s Green Initiative serves a variety of customers by offering environmental impact assessment based on life cycle analysis, pollutant on-site sampling and lab testing, on-site environmental audit to facilitate enterprises to manage the environmental footprint and reduce the environmental impact. Green Initiatives also provide solutions to help customer to develop green-design product.

The new Environmental Testing Laboratory will further expand Intertek China service scope by providing pollutant analysis in waste water and soil across industries, covering sectors like:
- Consumer goods: Textile, Hard goods, Electrics & Electricity, Food
- Raw Material & Industry Products;
-  Livestock Farming, Mining, Geological Exploration, Metallurgy, Chemical   
      Industry, Medical, Electrical Power and Building Materials

The laboratory stringently follows ISO 17025 requirement and is implementing the analysis method based on China national standards, industry standards and international standards, such as US EPA and US APHA.

The new lab capability includes the following test items:-
Temperature, Turbidity, Odor and Taste, Colour, PH Value, Conductivity, Suspended Solids, Residual Chlorine, BOD, COD, Animal/Vegetable and Fossil Oil, Volatile Phenol, Total Cyanide, Sulfides, Sulfates, Ammonia Nitrogen, Total Phosphorus, Total Nitrogen, Halides ion, Formaldehyde, Aniline Compounds, Anionic Surfactants, Absorbable Organic Halogens (AOX), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs), Persistent Organic Compounds (POPs), Pesticides and Heavy Metals etc.

The laboratory also works with partners to provide noise monitoring and air sampling and analysis to stationary source emissions, ambient and indoor air emission.
